Industry falls can occur under any of the following regimens:
  • Fall from the ladders.
  • Falling from scaffolding roofs.
  • Unprotected roofs and edges.
Many of the above-mentioned falling can be caused due to incidental subdues. Although  experts found that the major contributor to falls has been a simple lack of knowledge regarding accurate prevention. The employees are thus required to offer adequate learning about the strategies for fall protection. The implementation of several methods that can produce reducing effect in such occurrences might include:
  • Installing guardrails.
  • Use of toe boards.
  • Tying off the appropriate anchors.
  • Blocked opening
It is misfortunate to observe that many of the job sites are reluctant in applying any or all of the above precautionary measures. Not only such practices mean violence to the legislations, but the lives of the employees may be at conjure with such non-compliance. There lies the requisite of fall protection equipment inspection.

Violation over the standards may be reported to the appropriate authority inducing them to adopt the measures of fall protection equipment inspection. This is mandatory to ensure the use of fall equipment standards. Unless properly used, the rulings will make themselves void and null.

The Training Program

The training program will need to be scheduled by the employer for each employee. Those employees will be chosen who are exposed to falls but the hues form part of their job responsibilities. The program will; be designed to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling. Therefore, an appropriate induction program will be designed to train each employee about the procedures that they require to follow for minimizing the falling hazards.

The Inclusions in the Training Program

The training program will be intended to cover the following:
  • Employee must be informed about the nature of fall hazards in the work area.
  • The use of correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting the fall protection systems is mandatory.
  • The use and operation of guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems and controlled access zones must be maintained in accordance with the provisions in the legislation.
  • The role of each employee in the safety monitoring system when this system must be indicated.
  • Limitations on the use of mechanical equipment during the performance of roofing work on a low-sloped roof must be informed with.
  • Communicating the correct procedures for the handling and storage of equipment and materials and the erection of overhead protection.
  • How can the employees contribute to falling protection plan?
  • The standards contained in legal obligations must be adhered with.

Procedures for Fall Protection Equipment Inspection

The inspection of the personal fall equipment inspection entails a pre-inductance of the following:
  • Checking of D-rings for distortion, cracks, breaks, and rough or sharp edges. It should pivot freely.
  • The back pads of the ring should be inspected for damage.
  • Inspecting the unusual wear frayed or cut fibers, or broken stitching of the buckle or D-ring attachments.
  • Inspection for loose, distorted or broken grommets should also be done.
  • Webbing should not have additional punched holes.
  • Tongue Buckles should be free of distortion in shape and motion and overlap the buckle frame and move freely back and forth in their socket.
The legislation, however, incorporates the prescribed regulations that indicate the requirements to be met for the proper and official compliance to the use of fall protection equipment. There are provisions for training to workers that will imbibe them with kinds of fall protection standards. Knowledge about those standards will armor these workers with the kinds of protection against fall they are entitled to.
