What is Industrial Demolition and How is It Conducted?
The act or the process of wrecking or destroying an existing building structure for whatever reasons is termed as demolition. It is often confused with deconstruction, which is essentially taking apart a building carefully so as to preserve valuable elements for future use. Expert professionals who have their own set of tools conduct commercial and industrial demolitions and advanced wreckers and they work for commercial and industrial warehouses, or for demolishing grocery stores, shopping malls and many other commercial places.

# Why is There a Need for Demolition?
Look at the sky lines of all the major cities in the world. At some point of time they all has 1 or 2 story structures which were built with love and care.
- Land is fixed. It cannot multiply. What can multiply is the number of people that can be accommodated in the same place. An area, which housed one family, can end up housing 70.
- Another reason is to create something better. Unless one demolishes an existing structure, one cannot build a new and better structure in its place.
- Commercial demolition is also done to enhance civic beauty of a place. If certain parts of a commercial heritage place dangles, or is held in a precarious position, then it must be demolished for better reasons.
- Building or constructions are demolished also because they are built illegally. They do not have the required permits.
# Methods of Demolition:
- By Hand: This is a slow process as only hand tools are used. Cranes or machine shears are used to cut rods and beams. They are also used to clear the debris. This method is conducted level by level removing one after the other from top to lower ones.
- By a Ball: Balling can demolish most of the structures. This method requires skills and cannot be self-taught. It is a viable and effective method when demolishing a multi-story structure, which is unsafe and manual demolition, has been ruled out. However, this method can give rise to noise, dust accumulation, vibration to adjoining structure, flow of debris, uncontrolled unintentional collapse, and limited waste minimization.
- By Pusher Arm: These are hydraulically operated excavators/ loaders, which can be fitted with various attachments like excavator buckets, Pusher arms and so forth.
- By Deliberate Collapse: Expert engineers identify which portion of the structure should be cut to cause a collapse of the full structure. This method is suited to structures on isolated or heavily controlled secure sites.
- By Wire Rope Pulling: Cables and Wire ropes are attached to key structural elements and are pulled by tractors or winches. This method can be used for detached buildings with plenty of space around. This is the best method used for Timber framed buildings, bridges, masonry or steel chimneys.
- By Explosion or Implosion: This is an effective and efficient method which can reduce both cost and time to demolish unsafe multi story structure to ground.
There are other methods of demolition, which are used for specific purposes like under water structures.

# Things to Be Careful About While Undertaking Commercial and Industry Demolitions:
- Do not try to do it yourself
- Please inform and sensitize your neighbours
- Get the permits in place before starting any work
- Do not try and use the structure even partially while work is on
- Listen to the professionals
- Be prepared to spend
Creating something new and beautiful requires the old to go. The need for living and working space has been the key reason for the constant change. It is important to know that when you hire the industrial demolition services, their employees must have security certificates and licenses after passing through stringent processes of detection. They must also adhere to local building and community guidelines for carrying out the work effectively.
