Liquid Membrane Method: It is a thin membrane which has a primer coat and few top coats applied using rollers or sprays. It is a better option than the cementations type. Many chemicals are used in different forms.
Bituminous Method: It is a protective type of coating with its polymerization grading formulas. It is also known as asphalt coating. This type works very well with the concrete surfaces.
Bituminous Membrane Method: This type is mostly used for slopes and roofs due to their good performance.

Steps Involved in Shower Waterproofing:

It Involves a Number of Steps and Proper Approach is Required for Such Tasks:
  • Marking the Waterproofing Area: Proper measurements should be taken of the area which needs waterproofing. Then mark the area with lines and tapes.
  • Make All the Necessary Preparations: Apply primer with the help of a paint brush on the area which is to be waterproofed. Use an equal amount of primer on every surface and wait for it to dry. Till then measure the areas to be waterproof. Use the reinforcing membrane and cover the areas.
  • Waterproof the Walls: You need to put a coat of waterproofing where you need to install the reinforcing membrane. Put it on the dry area and apply another coat on the top. Paint the first coat once you are done with the membrane on the walls.

Advantages of Shower Waterproofing:

Waterproofing the shower and the walls will prevent it from adverse effects of water. All the cracks and small holes are blocked by waterproofing so the water cannot penetrate the walls and damage them from inside. You do not have to remove the water again and again from the shower area. Molds and fungus grow on the walls when moisture seeps into the mortar. This is not good for your health, waterproofing will prevent the growth of the mold by stopping the water from seeping in.

Today with the help of internet, you can take up the task for shower waterproofing yourself, but in case you have it on a large scale or if the condition is worse, you might need an expert advice. There are some contractors and some experts who can make your life easy. They are well experience and have enough knowledge to do the work.
